Sheet metal springback needs a clearly identified observation state. Keep an angle recorded during forming distinct from the angle recorded after release. Use the same angle convention and part references when reviewing the difference.
For an aluminum sheet order, ask the forming provider to connect its proposed compensation and accepted geometry to the actual material and process. Keep those approvals with the blank-cutting instruction.
Follow the angle through the review
1. Read sheet metal springback with the observation state
In their 2026 beam-springback research, Fatih Uzun and Alexander M. Korsunsky describe elastic recovery on unloading while plastic strain remains. Their analytical baseline uses stated beam and material assumptions, including elastic–perfectly plastic response.
This provides a useful conceptual distinction between the loaded and unloaded configurations. It does not supply a universal correction angle for an aluminum sheet part.
Identify the state behind the value in your actual report. Ask the forming provider whether the entry came from a machine display, a measurement during loading, a released-part measurement or a prediction.
Give the state a column of its own
A compact inspection sheet can still keep the state visible. Use separate fields for the angle, convention, observation state and record reference.
If an operator note contains only “90 degrees,” ask which feature and state the note describes. Retain the answer before the value becomes a finished-part acceptance entry.
A process setting, a predicted result and a measured component need distinct labels in the review. Name the source of each entry instead of presenting all three as measured part dimensions.
Retain the responsible person’s explanation when an old record is ambiguous. Avoid silently changing its heading to match a newer table.

2. Keep the same angle convention and references
Show the angle on an annotated section. Identify the two surfaces or reference lines that define it. Keep those references available to the person making and the person reviewing the observation.
An opening angle and a bend angle named from a straight starting condition need their own conventions. Request a marked sketch if the same word is being used differently in the drawing and inspection sheet.
Also identify the position of the measurement along the part. A record for one location should retain that location when copied into the purchasing summary.
An original fictional state comparison
Suppose a fictional sheet part S73 has an opening-angle record of 90 degrees under the forming load and 94 degrees after release. Both entries use the same marked surfaces and observation location.
The difference in this invented pair is 94 − 90 = 4 degrees. The calculation summarizes the two specified observations; it is not a recommended overbend setting or a predicted result for any alloy.
| Named state | Invented angle |
|---|---|
| Under forming load | 90 degrees |
| After release | 94 degrees |
| Difference in this pair | 4 degrees |
Retain the state labels with the arithmetic. A table containing only 90, 94 and 4 leaves the next reader to reconstruct which number describes which condition.
The example establishes no actual material behavior, tooling arrangement or acceptable finished angle. A real job needs its approved drawing and actual forming evidence.
Keep a flat-pattern calculation separate
The aluminum bend allowance guide addresses the developed blank geometry. Keep that calculation and a springback observation in separately identified fields.
If the provider revises the starting pattern, request the revised instruction and its drawing connection. Do not treat a change in observed angle as an instruction to add an arbitrary amount to the cutting length.

3. Review the trial for the actual job
Prepare the material identity before the trial is discussed. Include alloy, temper, product form and the specified thickness. Retain the material reference used by the forming provider.
Ask which proposed process and controlled setup the sample represents. Keep the provider’s explanation with its results rather than choosing a compensation value from a general article.
Define what the sample must demonstrate
Identify the finished features that will be reviewed, their drawing revision and the agreed measurement references. State whether the requested record includes an unloaded-part observation and any additional agreed states.
Ask the provider to document the actual measurements and remaining limitations. Keep a predicted geometry identifiable as predicted when it appears beside a measured sample.
Record who can approve a revised process or geometry. A sample note should not silently authorize a drawing change or close an unreviewed material substitution.
Ask a short, answerable question
Please identify the material and sample drawing revision. For each angle, retain the convention, surfaces, observation location and loaded or released state. Connect any proposed compensation to the reviewed process and the accepted finished-part evidence.
If the provider changes material or setup during review, identify which sample and result belong to the new proposal. Keep superseded and current records distinguishable.
The profile-bending RFQ guide addresses curved extrusion and tube requirements. Its section and blank discussion is separate from this sheet-angle state review.
Release a cutting package that matches the forming approval
Obtain the blank instruction approved by the responsible forming provider. Match its part identity and revision to the finished drawing.
Identify whether the cutting order supplies blanks only or includes an additional reviewed operation. Keep operation ownership and the evidence expected at each handoff in the order.
If a sample leads to an updated blank, issue the approved file and identify what it replaces. Ask the receiver to acknowledge the current cutting revision before the next batch is prepared.
Retain the actual sample review in the production file. The next purchaser should be able to find the accepted part definition without treating an old trial setting as a current instruction.

Prepare your aluminum blank-cutting inquiry
Send JiurunCut the approved aluminum stock and blank-cutting package. Include dimensions, quantities, current drawing references and the forming provider’s applicable blank instruction.
Keep sheet metal springback compensation and finished forming approval with the responsible forming provider. The cutting discussion should begin with an identifiable released requirement.
Does a tool or display angle establish the released-part angle?
Identify the entry’s source and state, then retain the actual released-part evidence required by the review.
Can I use the example’s four degrees on my part?
No. It is invented arithmetic with explicitly named observations.
Does this article specify a universal aluminum correction?
No. Obtain the reviewed compensation and sample evidence for the actual job.
