C3 bearing clearance identifies an internal-clearance class for the relevant bearing. In NSK’s radial-bearing sequence, C3 is above Normal (CN). For an aluminum saw spare-parts request, retain the full bearing designation and have the responsible supplier confirm it against the actual machine.
A clearance suffix is one part of the component identity. It does not establish a replacement’s compatibility with a saw, and it does not select the fit between the bearing and an aluminum housing. Use the approved parts record to connect these different questions.
Read the C3 bearing clearance label first
NSK’s fits and internal-clearance guide describes internal clearance as the relative radial or axial movement between the bearing rings. It distinguishes this from the dimensional fit at a shaft or housing interface.
For the buyer, the practical action is to preserve the complete designation. Ask the supplier to identify the exact bearing type, dimensions and applicable clearance specification. Do not reduce a long reference to the first few digits because another item looks similar.
Use the manufacturer’s definition for the bearing actually offered. A catalog entry needs its product family and supporting documentation beside it. A suffix copied out of context leaves the receiving team without enough information to verify the supplied component.

Check 1: connect the bearing to its installed position
Start with the machine model, serial number and approved service record. Identify the component’s position in the relevant assembly. Keep the parts-list revision with the item reference and any documented configuration changes.
Explain whether the request concerns a confirmed replacement, a planned spare or an observed problem still needing diagnosis. Those requests call for different supplier replies. A component order should not silently become the diagnosis of a machine symptom.
If an existing record or approved inspection provides a designation, attach it in full. Include the original photograph or report so a transcribed code can be checked. Mark unreadable fields as unknown and ask the service provider how to resolve them.
Collect identifiers using the machine’s approved access procedure. Keep inspection and dismantling with qualified service personnel. This article is a purchasing guide; it provides no bearing removal, installation or machine-adjustment steps.
The machine spare-parts guide explains the complete inquiry file. This article focuses on the clearance information inside that file and the questions a suffix alone cannot answer.
Check 2: keep internal clearance separate from housing fit
Use separate order fields for the bearing’s internal-clearance requirement and the approved shaft or housing interface. Retain both drawing references when the review involves an aluminum component. A note about one field should not overwrite the other.
NSK distinguishes initial clearance before mounting, residual clearance after mounting and effective clearance during operation. Its guide explains that mounting fit and temperature differences can change clearance. A supplied bearing’s class therefore does not describe every installed operating condition by itself.
Ask the responsible machine designer or service supplier to confirm the applicable arrangement. Record which bearing specification and interface requirements belong to it. Keep any proposed change connected to a documented application review.
For the dimensional interface question, see the clearance vs interference fit guide. Its ideal diameter calculations address mating features. They do not establish a bearing’s internal-clearance selection or installation method.
Two separate entries in the order file
- Bearing: full approved designation, supplier reference and relevant clearance specification.
- Interface: controlled shaft or housing drawing, revision and approved fit requirements.
Have the responsible reviewer close both entries before an altered component is accepted. A nominally matching bore or outside diameter does not supply the missing application decision.

Check 3: compare the full offered item
Place the approved reference and the supplier’s proposed reference side by side. Keep every suffix and the manufacturer’s identity. Ask for a written explanation of any difference rather than treating a similar base number as a complete match.
Clarify the supply scope. Is the quotation for one loose bearing, a specified set or an assembled replacement unit? List the included items and the service work required for the confirmed package. Keep a quantity entry attached to the exact supplied reference.
Request the relevant product documentation for a proposed substitution. If the original part is unavailable, have the responsible service provider confirm compatibility and any required changes. Availability is a commercial fact; acceptance of an alternative is a separate technical decision.
A fictional parts-counter exchange
Imagine an invented inquiry containing a partial bearing code. The seller replies, “The size matches and this one is C3.” The buyer’s existing record is incomplete, and no approved substitution has been identified.
A useful reply would ask for the complete proposed designation and its documentation, then refer the alternative to the responsible service supplier. It would also identify the machine and installed position so the review concerns the correct assembly.
The exchange contains no real customer case or actual replacement recommendation. Its purpose is to show what information remains open when a seller mentions only size and clearance class.
Check 4: preserve the approved decision at receipt
Check the delivered item’s identification and quantity against the confirmed order. Keep the packaging labels and supplied documentation with the machine service file. Record a discrepancy before treating the delivery as the approved replacement.
Identify whether the item enters planned-spares storage or is handed to qualified service personnel. Follow the component supplier’s actual storage and handling requirements. Do not assign one shelf life or lubricant policy to every bearing in the storeroom.
After service, retain the completed work record and the checks required by the machine documentation. Link the installed component to the machine identity and service date. A confirmed purchase reference and a completed return-to-operation review are different records.

Questions buyers often ask
Is C3 a quality score?
In the radial-bearing sequence described above, it is an internal-clearance class. Ask for the actual product documentation and approved application requirement.
Should a warm-running saw automatically receive C3?
Report the observation to the responsible service provider. A symptom alone does not identify its cause or approve a clearance-class change.
Does matching the bearing’s dimensions complete the review?
Retain the full designation, machine position and supplier confirmation. Resolve the documented application and supply scope before ordering.
Contact JiurunCut with your machine and service records. Include the complete available bearing reference and explain whether you need a planned spare or a replacement review. Keep any C3 bearing clearance question tied to that actual installation.
