For aluminum tube end forming, buy the starting piece specified for the confirmed forming route, not a cut length guessed from the finished part. Separate the tube body’s section from the locally changed end. Then decide whether the saw should supply an approved straight blank or work on material whose end shape already exists.
Aluminum tube end forming: read the local end shape beside the tube body
Fictional procurement example: drawing R defines a tube whose main body must fit a specified mounting opening. End A has a locally enlarged connection shape, while End B retains the condition in the drawing. Assume the buyer has approved that geometry. This example is not a real order or an assessment of the connection’s fit, strength or sealing.
The buyer needs both shapes in the same component: the specified body through most of its length and the different local section at End A. A description naming only the enlarged opening loses the body requirement; one naming only the body loses the end feature.
BLM GROUP’s tube end-forming overview lists expansion, tapering and closing within its own process range. Those descriptions identify end-forming operations, not features automatically included in a circular saw or permission to form any aluminum tube.
Use R’s approved side and section views to distinguish the enlarged region from the retained body. An end-on outline alone does not show how far the changed section extends. These views define the requested object, not how to make it.

Choose the actual input to the forming station
Route A uses process-approved straight tube. The saw supplies the starting segment defined for R’s confirmed forming route, and an independent provider forms End A. The cutting supplier evaluates that intermediate piece, not an imagined saw operation that delivers the enlarged end.
The forming provider must supply its actual input requirements for the material condition, tube section, starting length and ends. If the real inquiry lacks an approved starting length, keep that value pending. Neither copying the finished length nor adding a general allowance establishes an acceptable blank. This article assumes no universal change in length during forming.
Route B purchases material already carrying the local end shape. Identify what actually arrives: a complete finished component, an individual preformed blank, or longer material with a formed end. These are different saw inputs, and the first may require no further cut.
For an item needing a remaining cut, the incoming drawing must show which existing shape stays in the retained piece and what End B still requires. A long item with one formed end is not automatically a source of repeated identical preformed parts. Ordinary straight-stock cutting logic cannot supply that missing feature on the remaining material.
Buying preformed input can move the forming operation outside the factory’s own work, but availability and the supplied stage require confirmation. It does not prove that the existing saw can handle that input or that the purchased item already meets every requirement of R.

Compare local forming with larger stock or a different cut
Proposal C is the mistaken alternative in this fictional case. It selects a uniformly larger tube because its end appears to match R’s enlarged region, then proposes cutting it to overall length. The body would also be larger, contrary to R’s specified body at the mounting opening. Matching one end outline has changed the rest of the requested part.
| Proposed input and route | Physical result being purchased | Purchasing consequence |
|---|---|---|
| A — Approved straight blank, then separate end forming | The saw delivers the specified starting tube segment; the local end geometry is still to be formed. | Assess the saw against the approved blank. Keep the forming operation and its acceptance outside the saw-only supply. |
| B — Preformed component or stock | The received item already includes local end geometry, but its remaining completion work must be identified. | Confirm whether cutting remains and which physical end must be retained. Do not assume uniform-stock feeding or a repeated blank pattern applies. |
| C — Larger tube cut to length | The body is enlarged along the whole supplied tube, not just at R’s specified end. | This does not satisfy the fictional R geometry. It is not an approved substitute for the local change. |
BLM GROUP’s AST page describes tooling for widening, closing and flaring, alongside cutting and other operations. It also discusses shaping separately from chip removal. These are functions described for that manufacturer’s equipment, not a single saw-cut setting.
Both sources belong to BLM GROUP. Neither establishes formability of the buyer’s actual material, the suitability of a JiurunCut configuration or completion of the fictional R part. They are process descriptions, not independent application tests.
A sloping cut face or a chamfer is also not, by itself, the local opening change specified for R. Identify the face geometry and the local tube section separately on the part definition. Choosing an end angle does not answer a request to form an enlarged connection.
Buy the saw around the approved starting part
Compare offers at the same delivery stage. A’s saw-cut blank still has forming ahead of it; a completed R supplied through B may not. Do not compare those as identical output merely because both quotations mention tube length. Neither route is inherently cheaper, faster or preferable.
For A, resolve the forming station’s blank definition before releasing production cut lengths. For B, resolve the received shape and any remaining cut before assigning a saw task. C requires reconsideration of the material proposal, not an assumption that final-length cutting corrects the body’s mismatch.
